Meet Melissa Kraich:
Online Reading & Elementary Tutor

At the heart of Melissa’s teaching approach is a simple idea: learning should be engaging and centered around your child.

Melissa takes the time to get to know each student as an individual—their strengths, challenges, interests, and learning style. Her goal is to create an environment where children feel comfortable taking risks, asking questions, and developing the skills they need to become more confident learners.

Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, Melissa meets students where they are and provides the balance of encouragement, challenge, and individualized support they need throughout their learning journey.

A Personalized Approach to Learning

Melissa Kraich is the founder and educator behind Little Sparks Tutoring, where she provides personalized online reading and elementary tutoring for K–6 students. With a background in elementary education, special education, curriculum development, and structured literacy, Melissa specializes in helping students strengthen foundational reading skills, phonics, fluency, comprehension, and confidence.

Her approach combines individualized instruction with research-based teaching practices, including Orton-Gillingham-informed multisensory phonics instruction, to support students with a variety of learning needs, including struggling readers and students with dyslexia.

Education, Experience & Training

Melissa brings extensive education and specialized training to her work with students:

A Personalized Approach to Reading & Learning
No two students learn exactly the same way—and tutoring shouldn't treat them as if they do.

Melissa uses each student's strengths, challenges, progress, and learning needs to guide instruction. Whether a child needs support with phonics and decoding, reading fluency, comprehension, writing, or elementary math, sessions are designed to meet the student where they are and help them build both skills and confidence.

Helping Children Become Confident Readers and Writers

Strong literacy skills affect so much more than a child's performance in reading class. They influence how students understand information, communicate their ideas, approach new material, and feel about themselves as learners.

Through Little Sparks Tutoring, Melissa supports elementary students as they strengthen foundational literacy skills, reading comprehension, writing, and overall confidence. Her background in special education, structured literacy, and online instruction allows her to adapt learning experiences to the individual needs of each child.

Experience Supporting Young Learners

Teaching experience that goes beyond tutoring

Melissa's background includes classroom teaching, curriculum development, instructional leadership, special education support, virtual education, and individualized K–6 tutoring.

Throughout her career, she has used student data and research-based instructional approaches to identify learning gaps and create individualized learning plans. Her experience includes reading, writing and math instruction; structured and multisensory phonics; progress monitoring with aimswebPlus; and collaboration around student learning needs and IEPs.
