How Our Online Reading Tutoring Works
Getting to Know Your Child
I begin by getting to know your child's reading abilities, learning needs, interests, and academic goals. Building a strong relationship with each student is important to me, and it helps me create a supportive learning environment where they feel comfortable and confident.
Personalized Reading Instruction
I tailor each online reading tutoring session to your child's individual needs, using structured literacy methods grounded in the science of reading. My approach incorporates Orton-Gillingham-informed instruction to strengthen foundational reading skills while building on each student's existing strengths.
Interactive Virtual Learning
I make online tutoring engaging through multisensory activities, interactive lessons, and individualized learning materials. Using a document camera, I can see your child's work in real time, provide immediate feedback, and make adjustments to support their learning.
Building Skills & Confidence
I believe reading success is about more than academics. I celebrate each student's progress, encourage their interests, and help them develop confidence along the way. My goal is to help your child become a stronger, more independent reader who feels proud of their growth.
Reading support tailored to your child
Every student learns differently. Little Sparks provides individualized reading instruction to support your child’s current goals, whether they’re strengthening foundational skills or working toward deeper reading comprehension. Lessons use engaging activities to help students practice, make progress, and feel more confident as readers.

Build skills and a love of learning
Online reading tutoring can help make practice feel more personal and encouraging. Little Sparks focuses on your child’s strengths and needs, with the goal of supporting stronger reading skills and a lasting love of learning.
-
Strong reading skills begin with understanding how sounds and letters work together. Through explicit, multisensory instruction, students practice recognizing and manipulating sounds, connecting letters to sounds, and decoding unfamiliar words.
Our Orton-Gillingham-informed approach helps students develop the foundational literacy skills necessary for reading and spelling success.
-
Reading fluency helps children move beyond sounding out individual words toward reading with greater accuracy, expression, and confidence.
Through guided reading practice and individualized instruction, we help students strengthen word recognition, develop smoother reading habits, and build the skills needed to focus more fully on understanding what they read.
-
Reading is about more than recognizing words. It's about understanding, connecting with, and thinking about what we read.
We help students strengthen their ability to identify important details, make inferences, summarize information, and discuss texts with confidence.
Through personalized instruction and meaningful conversations, students develop the comprehension skills needed for success across academic subjects.
-
Our experts develop comprehensive policies, demonstrate adherence through auditing protocols, and mitigate legal exposure across jurisdictions.
